1. Church Overview

Neighborhood Christian Fellowship began in 1955 and has a rich history in faithful ministry to our community. We truly believe that God has us on earth to partner with him in the work of transforming lives, families and communities through the truth, love and power of Jesus Christ.  Our church verse is, John 1:14, the Message version of the Bible reads, "The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood..."  We believe that God wants to dwell with his church and continue moving into the neighborhood. 

We are looking for our next full-time Senior Pastor to lead us into the future to increase missional impact and equip us to see more lives transformed by Christ. We are a healthy, giving, loving and relational church with a current attendance average of 65 adults plus children in the city of Covina, located in Los Angeles county. We desire a renewed vision to reach the next generation and make a greater impact in our neighborhood.

2. Community Overview

Neighborhood Christian Fellowship is located in the city of Covina just 22 miles East of Los Angeles, California. We’re centrally located in the heart of East San Gabriel Valley and about an hour’s drive from local beach towns, mountain resorts, and the high desert. NCF is located on the edge of diverse communities ethnically, economically and socially. We are also close to Azusa Pacific University and Fuller Seminary. We currently reach an average radius of about 8 miles. 

3. The Role of Senior Pastor

The Senior Pastor leads and directs the ministry of Neighborhood Christian Fellowship and is responsible to:

  • Develop and cast a new vision for NCF to ensure that people are being reached with the gospel and discipled to become fully devoted follower of Christ

  • Oversee, develop, manage and evaluate staff

  • Act as the Chair of the Local Board of Administration (Elders) & Chair all sub committees

  • Oversee the spiritual life of NCF by developing preaching series, planning worship services and working with small groups to ensure that spiritual growth is a priority

  • Perform pastoral duties: administer Baptism and the Communion, officiate weddings and funerals, pastoral counseling and pre-marital counseling and visitation of the sick

  • Cast vision and oversee community outreach and evangelism

  • Oversee & manage church budget and provide a good example in stewarding their personal funds and church finances

4. Qualities of Our Next Senior Pastor


  • Agreement with Wesleyan-Arminian Theology

  • Master's level theology/pastoral seminary degree preferred; a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies or Pastor Studies etc.

  • An ordained minister with at least 5 years of pastoral experience either as senior pastor or associate pastor with increasing responsibility in a growing church

  • Proven ability to grow a healthy ministry with missional impact

  • Excellent preaching and creative communication skills

Personal Character: 

  • A person who is truthful and widely trusted, keeps confidence, self-aware, admits mistakes, doesn’t misrepresent himself/herself for personal gain

  • Highly committed to knowing and teaching the Word of God and reliance on the Holy Spirit for spiritual and professional growth

  • Meet the moral, ethical, and relational standards for spiritual leaders set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-14 and Titus 1:6-9

  • Strong administrative skills, especially in the ability to develop strategy and leaders to accomplish a vision

  • Has a clear understanding of worship and how to engage people in a life transforming way

  • Embraces the use of technology to effectively reach current culture
